My name is Sean Becker. I am an instructional designer and educational technology specialist who tries to build learning experiences that are engaging while respecting the learner’s time. Learning as an adult should not be a chore, it should be an engaging experience and that is what I build.

Friendly Local Game Store

This is the capstone of my master’s thesis, a primer on opening a friendly local game store. This is a check on assumptions people in a community have about what it takes to open a store. Built in Adobe Captivate.

One Piece Judge Test

Addressing a need, the Judge Test for the One Piece TCG is notoriously difficult and there is no official support to prepare for the test. The Game Makers also specifically prohibit people from discussing test contents, which makes it even trickier to prepare for. I built a module that goes over the terminology and timing in order to help players get into the mindset of a judge and pass the test. Built in Articulate 306 Storyline.

Games as Empathy

The learning goal for this presentation was that the leadership at the center for youth and family solutions must learn the rules and themes of the game Dog Eat Dog in order to understand how role playing games can be used to have express positions they normally would not be in. I took a powerful game and explained the rules to social workers who used Role Play as an exercise, but never really a game with rules. This was hoping to show why the rules improve the power of role play. Built in PowerPoint, drafted with detailed thumbnails.
